fear of words..

(The fear of long words)

hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia

Etimology

From hippopotomonstrosesquippedalian , an extension of sesquipedalian with monstrum "monster" and a truncated, misspelled form of hippopotamus, intended to exaggerate the length of the word itself and the idea of the size of the words being feared; combined with phobia.

Last Year

M.A.T.E

things always happen during my last year of school. not burdened by stuff for graduate (that's normal) but about a mate. anyways when i was in sixth grade in elementary school, SD Sardonoharjo I, i got this table mate who i didn't really talk to before. i mean i knew her but i didn't really play and talk to her. she is a sweet girl tho, she still is. when i was in ninth grade, my last year at middle school, i got this table mate who i didn't really talk to before either. she is awesome, she still is, she is the most annoying girl that i have ever met but always makes me happy.lol. that's why i loved her so much, and i still do. when i was in underclassmen in middle school i even didn't know her at all. and later on we become the best mate ever.
and now, my last year of high school, i stuck in the same situation. now i'm in the united states, this year counted my last year at niskayuna high school. now even my mate and my other friends i didnt even know them before. then later on when i gotta be back to indonesia, i must have this mate that i didnt really talk to and even i didnt know that she or he exist. anyways that's all that i learn from my last year of school.
not that important, i just curious.

Prom Nite

prom, the word that actually from french-promenade-which means take a walk, have been done since 1895 in the UK. it actually was just student gathering in college or high school. it was like banquet with the dance afterward. but since 1950s people start to make their prom fancier and elegant. of course limousine, date, prom king and queen is always a must for those who really make the prom perfect.

like yesterday i was at the prom at the Marriott hotel. with the blue dress that i bought from DEB at crossgates, the shoes that i bought from famous footwear that actually left my foot bloody afterward, and the jewelry from Claire de lune at Rotterdam mall, i went to the prom almost dying because I'm not that kinda party person and i don't really know juniors. anyways at 2 o'clock mom start playing with my hair. i don't need a saloon. not only I'm late to do booking but also i don't want my pennies thrown away just for 8 hours of pleasant, and anyways my mom is a superhero to get my hair done. talking about hair, there was something happen that make me believe that people really make a big deal of prom. so when i jog up to Starbucks in the morning (that was kinda cheat because i skipped hundreds of feet from a mile; just let you know that I'm not a good runner) i saw my friend had her hair done while i sweat and looked gross.

anyways about two half hours got my nails and hair done (my mom is awesome! thanks mom!) i started to feel uncomfortable waiting my date came. not because i really wanted to see him dress up but also I'm not ready for PROM! anyways after put my dress and other stuff on, i start taking pictures with my family. that was kinda sad tho, it was raining. if it wasn't so, i might take a picture out side with the spring air. anyways at 6 my date came with his parents. awkward at the first time, but then i gotta used to it. some click and flash. then we all (his family, my family, he and i) drove up to school. he and i lined up to do walk in. okay. these high heels started killing me! i told him to hold me tight. it worked. i wasn't falling down like that poor girl who apparently might be nervous because she did walk in alone. (i don't know her tho, i felt really sorry about her). nervous, i wasn't even smile because I was so overwhelmed.

7.15. after got out from school, he drove me up to Marriott hotel. he is kinda gentleman. he opened the car door for me when i need to get out and get in. anyways, after we got to there, a lil awkward again, i don't really know juniors. so we just walked around and found people who i know. i met couple people. that's better. although we didn't get seats in the same table with my friends, we're fine. we got the table next to them and i knew at least 4 girl who sat there. we ate diner, i didn't have any appetite altho i hadn't had lunch yesterday, idk why. then it's time! we dance and dance till floor falls apart. well anyways that's tough time for me. i more enjoyed dance with the girls since when the boy-girl dancing goes too far here. and now i have a date that i gotta dance with. anyways, he was okay with it. then when it was time the DJ played the mellow song, well i think i gotta break my own rule. that was okay tho, not that goes too far style.

11.30. we left Marriott hotel. we decided to go to my home first to change cloth. we were gonna stay at after prom. then we got home. change. then we drove down to proctors, downtown Schenectady. oh crap! when we got there the video of the walking was played and we missed our walking. ours had been played like 2 seconds before we got there. anyways we waited and waited till we gotta see our walking. wow! i walked like a guy! like i usually do. then we watched people riding the mechanical bull, then we watched people doing karaoke, until we finally decided to go home. (one thing, downtown Schenectady was really pretty at night, we gotta walk because we parked in the wrong spot. i like the night!)we left at 2.30 kinda. he spent the night at my house. anyways after americans way to say good bye, said hugging, i said good night and thanked him. i wasn't gonna meet him in the morning coz i wanted to sleep in, and he gotta be at home early in the morning to make a surprise present for her mom. (today is a mother's day). i was sad tho, prom was fun and now it's over. anyways that was a good time!

Health Care Today

Law and Government class
Mr. Sharkey
Health care in the US

today many Americans are worry about health insurance they have in their bill. many of them worry about thing whether they are going to have an appropriate treatment or not with the bill that they have paid. the fact that the most private company doesn't want to bankrupt make any sense that the consumers do not get enough service. the thing that happens is too many people that have paid their insurance company always get denials when they need their insurance to fund the medical treatment with the serious illness. many of them get denial notification sent to their mailbox.

people get denial with the reason of the physical of their body; too tall, to fat, to short, etc. it doesn't make any sense for the people who need medical treatment for the emergency condition. most of them who didn't get medical treatment immediately or not intensively died. it is very worrying condition where health insurance are supposed to care people instead they make people die.

the high price of medicine is another problem in the US. people have to pay at least $20 to pay their medicine bill for every single time they see the doctor. that is so impressive remembering that the medicine in Latin America is so much cheaper than any in the US. in Latin America they just have to pay for five cent for the liquid eye drop, but here in the united states we pay about $105 for the same size of bottle. then in Latin America they pay about $215 average per year/person and people here pay $7000 average per year/person. the big difference amount of money a little makes sense that everything in the Us is more expensive than any other countries in Latin America. if we calculate them, we still pay more for less.

the other worrying problem is the unemployed. here is hard to get their health insurance. they have no mediator to the health insurance company that usually have been provided by the company where they work at. it is getting worse and worse if the poor people/unemployed even do not get their health care because they can not pay the bill in one time after they get treatment.

knowing that we have so may problems about health care, we should learn from the other country how to manage the budget to conduct health care in out country. in Canada, people can get their free treatment for the injury, either in European country such as France, England, etc and even in Latin America. they got a doctor that comes to their home for emergencies. even they help people who do not have enough money to go to see their doctor. there is supposed to be a way for the US to get rid of this problem. one of the way is to make all health insurance controlled by the government, but it might not work, because there are too many private health insurance company in the US. the other way is to co-operate the government or private company to work together. they can help each other by doing cross subsidy. the other word is to make the private health care to be a semi-private company. so either the private company or government works together in managing their financial to take care all the people in the US.

other from above, the prior problem that should have been solved by the government is to make sure that all people in the US get their health insurance because not all people in the US do have their health insurance. then the government can take the one more step forward to handle how all people get their insurance evenly. so take one step to make sure that people get their insurance is the most important than we step further. in this way. it makes the government easier to make health insurance available for all. we do not want to hear more tears because people die. we do not want more tears because people feels bad of their diseases. so let us, as the society that concern much about health care, participate to support the government to make health care better and available for all.
